This project investigates how mis- and disinformation circulate, gain traction, and resist moderation on social media platforms, with particular attention to far-right communities and to periods of social and political stress that act as natural experiments in information disorder — such as the 2019–2020 Australian bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Drawing on computational social science methods — network analysis, mixed-methods classification, and predictive modelling — the work asks how fringe actors move from the periphery to the centre of public conversations, how platform moderation strategies succeed or fail, and how the early spread of harmful content can be detected before it scales.
